    Beautiful Best Western Landing Hotel is located right across the street from Alaska Marine Highway Terminal and is directly across the beautiful Tongass Narrows from the Ketchikan International Airport. We’re your first stop should you be flying in or arriving by ferry.

    All of our 107 rooms and suites are exceedingly large and comfortable ranging from standard queens, kings, and double queens with seating areas to mini suites, two room suites and rooms with balcony’s and fireplaces. All of our rooms have microwaves, refrigerators, coffee makers, hair dryers, irons & ironing boards and free high speed internet access.

    Let our courtesy shuttle van take you to any destination with in city limits at your convenience any time from 6 am to 10pm or enjoy one of our Alaskan Seafood items in either of our two restaurants on property; opening as early as 6 am and closing as late as 11pm.

    Should I book a tour through my cruise ship or through you directly? As a visitor to Ketchikan, you have the choice to pre-book with the cruise line or shop independently. Because port time and tour space is limited, it is suggested that tours be booked through the cruise line to guarantee pre-defined tour times that best suit your port schedule. We are a vendor with cruise lines and can assist you in booking our tours that is offered aboard your ship.

    When is the best time to visit and will it be cold? Most visitors come by cruise ship between May and September. Below you will find a chart depicting the average temperatures on a typical cruise route (north to south). However, Ketchikan offers year round activities for all visitors.

    What is the weather usually like in Ketchikan? The weather is temperate and it can rain on average 13.5 feet annually. Average temperatures can range between 51 and 70 degrees Fahrenheit in the summer months.

    Is Ketchikan located on an island? Ketchikan resides on Revillagigedo Island in the Alexander Archipelago of southern Southeast Alaska and named after a Viceroy of New Spain. It is approximately 1120 square miles, 55 miles long and 35 miles wide.

    At what sea level does Ketchikan reside at? Like many Southeast Alaska communities, Ketchikan is located at sea level and experiences a wide tidal range. The tides fluctuate from -4.2 to 20.6 feet and change from high to low every 6 hours.

    What clothes should I pack? It is always wise to be able to dress in layers with a waterproof outwear. Depending on your chosen activities, you may need to bring a couple of choices for footwear, including one that is water repellent or resistant.

    Is it always light in Alaska? There is a substantial difference in the amount of sunlight between the summer and the winter months. The following are average daylight hours in Ketchikan throughout the year:

    When is the best time to see bears in the wild? Bears congregate in specific viewing areas as early as July and as late as mid-September. Bears feed on salmon spawning or preparing to spawn in streams.

    Do I need a passport to go to Alaska? Although Alaska resides in the United States, if you are cruising here, some portions of travel may require a passport. Be sure to identify all points along your vacation to ensure you do or do not need a passport to participate.

    What is the local currency? All local businesses accept US currency. Many banks can exchange foreign currency for visitors.
